Deescalation

May 04, 2003

Yesterday I went to the country. Murphys, Calaveras County, California, home of the Celebrated Jumping Frogs, to be exact. It was clean and big and open and dewy and pretty. I told someone, "You know you've been in the city too long when you come to the country and you're absolutely enthralled by every flower, every cloud, every animal." The quiet was so thick you could grab big handfuls of it.

We played on a playground, drank lots of coffee, had long talks. We also took this walk through forestpondmeadowhills. There were lots of cows. They tailed us for awhile, plotting our demise. I'm telling you, those cows were possessed of a murderous intellect. They were sharp. They were mobilized.

I should go to work today, but I'll probably skip it and clean the house and do laundry and maybe check out the farmer's market and go to Kabuki and to the show tonight. Mmmm, Sundays are lovely.
